About QuireCraft

A better home for the whole creative work.

QuireCraft is an independent UK software project, created to bring writing, organisation, document design and publishing together without taking control away from the person doing the work.

Built because the writing tools got in the way.

QuireCraft’s founder is a full-stack software developer who has written software professionally since 1988, working with a wide range of languages, platforms and technologies.

While writing a book, the available tools began to get in the way. They imposed particular ways of working instead of adapting to the author and the work. With decades of experience building software, the natural response was to design something better.

QuireCraft grew from that need: an application that allows an author to focus on writing, while keeping capable tools close at hand when they are needed. Organisation, research, page design, preview and publishing are available without dictating how the work must be created.

Quire + craft

A name rooted in making books.

A quire is a gathering of paper sheets: one of the physical units from which a book is made. Craft speaks to the skill, care and judgement involved in shaping any piece of work.

Together, QuireCraft reflects the application’s purpose—to support both the words and the thoughtful work of turning them into a finished publication.

What guides the work

Principles before features.

01

The creative tools stay free

Writing, organising, designing, previewing and exporting are the application—not a trial that expires.

02

Your work remains yours

Local storage, independent backups and unrestricted exports keep authorship and access in your hands.

03

Connection is a choice

A subscription adds services such as multi-device sync and deeper community participation; it does not unlock the act of writing.

04

Details deserve care

Typography, structure, accessibility and data safety are part of the product itself, not finishing touches.

Independently made

Small enough to listen closely.

QuireCraft is currently created and maintained independently. That makes direct conversation with the people using it especially important: problems can be understood in context, ideas can be discussed openly and quieter needs do not have to disappear behind a popularity score.

Build a capable application, explain its choices clearly and treat every manuscript as irreplaceable.

Help shape what comes next.

You can use QuireCraft without creating an account. If you choose to join the community, you can follow feature requests, report problems and help guide the application as it develops.
